Edna Kuma became a Barrister at Law (B.L) from the Ghana School of Law, Accra.  She also has the B.A (Hons) from the University of Ghana, Legon  and a Certificate in International Human Rights Law on Women-at the University of Makerere. For many years, she practiced as a Private Legal Practitioner and a Corporate lawyer. She together with some lawyers, they formed the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA). Under her administration, AWLA, among other things, has championed, organized and implemented many projects and programs with assistance from Donors such as:  US Democracy Fund, DANIDA, UNICEF, SAVE the Children (SWEDEN), NERTHERLANDS Embassy, GIZ (GTZ), US EMBASSY, STAR-GHANA, OSIWA, GLOBAL FUND FOR WOMEN, AWDF, IPAS, SAFE SCHOOLS Project, G-RAP.
